5 Awesomely Easy Thanksgiving Day Bookmarks to Make with Your Kids

OK… Here are 5 fun Thanksgiving Day Bookmarks for you to make with the kids to get into the Thanksgiving spirit!  Because, the big day is just 3 weeks away and we’ve got to start getting ready for the festivities!

For some reason, my 2nd Grade year of Art sticks out in my mind.  We got to make so many fun art projects that year and I particularly remember the Thanksgiving Day projects.  We built these small harvest scenes out of cardboard, glued a fence around the outer edge.  Then we put a scarecrow up and decorated the surrounding scenery with candy pumpkins!  (Maybe it was the fact that we got to eat candy during school that makes this so memorable to me.  ;) ) .

But, since you’re busy parents/caregiver/babysitters/teachers I thought I’d start off my Thanksgiving crafts with a super easy one – 5 Thanksgiving Day Bookmarks.

So, without further ado, here you go!

Supply List

First off, the supplies that you are going to need:

These supplies should cover just about any of the bookmarks that you might make.  Another great thing about that above list – you probably have all of those supplies already in the house!  If you don’t have the googly eyes, just improvise by coloring your own eyes.

Thanksgiving Day Bookmarks

1.     A Turkey Bookmark – This bookmark is a fun one.

a)

Cut out from the construction paper, the size of the bookmark that you want.  I turned my piece of construction paper horizontal and cut each of my bookmarks about 3-4 inches wide.

b)     Figure out if you want any words on the top of the bookmark.  If so, figure out where you will place the wording and sketch it in with a pencil.

c)     Draw a circle out of brown construction paper for the main body of the turkey.  Cut this out and glue it in the appropriate spot on your Thanksgiving Day Bookmarks.

d)     On the red and orange construction paper, draw small loops for the turkey’s feathers.

e)     Alternate the feather colors and glue around the belly of the turkey

f)      Glue on some googly eyes (if you have some)

g)     Cut a beak out of construction paper and glue on the turkey’s face.

h)     Cut out the turkey’s red snood (yes, that's the actual name for that thing that jiggles underneath their "chin")

i)      Draw some legs on the turkey

j)      Color in the wording if you’re done

k)    Punch a hole in the top and string some ribbon or yarn through it to give your bookmark a proper tail!

2.     Thanksgiving Day Word Bookmark

3.     Pumpkin Patch Bookmark

a)     Again, cut out from the construction paper, the size of the bookmark that you want.  I turned my piece of construction paper horizontal and cut each of my bookmarks about 3-4 inches wide

b)     Next, cut out some pumpkins out of orange construction paper.  Make them to be different shapes and sizes.

c)     Draw the bumps of the pumpkins.  You can do this by using a brown color crayon + an orange one.  (Colored pencils work as well)

d)     Glue the pumpkins on the bookmark template.  (If you are going to write anything at the top, make sure to give the proper spacing)

e)     Out of green construction paper (or brown) cut the stem of the pumpkin.   Then, glue the stems on top of each pumpkin.

f)      Punch a hole in the top and string some ribbon or yarn through it.
